Hi, this is my first post here. I've been struggling with my KA6 for about 2-3 years now. Mostly the issue that the sound gets corrupted every 4th day or so. My previous solution was just to plug it in and out again. I was also having massive latency issues, and i suspect this will fix other issues people might be having.

The only downside is that it isn't free and it's windows only afaik. I suspect something similar might be available to Mac (if there really is any problem there).

You can download it and give it a try. There's videos on youtube on how to set it up but basically what you're doing is forcing WDM (which i suspected long ago to be the issue) into running the ASIO driver. The free download does cut out the sound now and again because it's a demo, but i think it's fairly cheap to have a working sound card, without having to buy a new one (which are a lot more expensive). Once my KA6 started acting up with the latency issues and sound corruption i started that, configured it (it's really easy) and voila, problem gone. I can't describe how happy i am that this is working and i'm hoping it'll work for all of you that got duped into buying this terrible piece of hardware. I'll attach a picture on how my setup looks. Once the issue arises again i will install ASIO4ALL and see if that fixes it.

If it completely replaces WDM like AsioLink does then i'm assuming it will work just fine. The issue i have with ASIO4ALL is that it adds latency but as long as you can use the other ASIO driver implemented in the KA6 drivers in whatever DAW/DJ Program you're using latency shouldn't matter. EDIT: BiCho, please provide us with how to set up ASIO4ALL properly because i can't get it to work.

EDIT 2: Okay, after a restart i managed to get it working within foobar2k. However, i wonder if it's active in every program (e.g chrome, spotify and so on). I also turn off the Wifi and the antivirus while I am working on audio stuff.

In this way I get 0.7ms or so, depending on the sample rate frequency, without any hiccups at all. Obviously not everybody has the same computer. I'll say that you have to turn off all the bells and whistles from your internal soundcard for this to work.

Oh, and don't forget to download the latest version of the drivers, both ASIO4ALL and the official driver for your internal soundcard and KA6. I understand using ASIO4ALL as a WDM-ASIO router, which i know AsioLink does.

And i suppose ASIO4ALL can do it to, but it's not that easy to test out since, once you're experiencing crackling in software where you cannot use ASIO drivers, you want to install ASIO4ALL. Which requires a reboot to work properly. A reboot will remove the crackling anyhow so eh.

KA6's ASIO driver is fine. Internal soundcards do not affect the crackling that appears after a while.

Like i said, this has nothing to do with using the sound card in any other environment than just pure audio listening in (for example) foobar, spotify, youtube and so on. It's something that happens to some users (but not all apparently). I've been going through everything for the past 3 years (different computers as well), and it's the WDM driver thats messed up. Why this issue doesn't happen to everyone? I have no clue.

But disabling internal sound card/changing settings in windows/trying other (windows based) operating systems/testing slower and faster hardware/disabling pretty much everything in BIOS and so on and so forth. Nothing works. Except forcing WDM to run through ASIO. It's a huge problem (just search for it) with this specific sound card and NI doesn't acknowledge it, let alone try to fix it. I just wanted to bump this and report back that asiolink has been working flawlessly since November. I no longer have dropouts/crackling after heavy use (mainly youtube).

Like i said, the soundcard works perfectly fine in software that can utilize the Asio Driver. However, Windows uses it's own driver for everything else (WDM), which was the culprit. Asiolink circumvent the WDM and tells Windows to use the Asio Driver instead. So regular usage like games, web browser and pretty much everything else that isn't a DAW, now uses the Asio Driver which has zero issues. I sincerely hope this will help anyone else out there.

And if anyone has a free solution that works the same way as Asiolink does, please share. I get that some people don't want to buy a 3rd party software, luckily there's a free trial for Asiolink and it's cheap. But yea, a free solution would of course be the best. Regards, lain.

Hi, I've tried the Odeus ASIO Link recommended by lainx. I was rather reluctant at first, as it cost $24.95 AUD for a software 'fix' And also, I was concerned that what if my problem is different and after purchasing ASIO Link, it couldn't fix the problem. But in the end I went ahead.

As the results. It fixed the popping, cracking, and 'no sound after running for a certain time' problem! It's worth it! (Not 100% I got to say.

Once in a while it does still have slight popping sound, about once or twice a day. But it never 'stopped working', ever again!) In the past, I've tried disabling network drivers, checking LatencyMon, ensuring that there is no power saving, changing the virtual memory, buffer, sample rate.

Basically everything that their support had recommended, as I was told that it might be lack of memory. (I am using i7 3.5GHz, 32GB RAM, OCZ Vector SSD) So seriously, don't waste time & effort dealing with their support or wait for a fix from Native Instruments.

Just buy it, fix it, use it, and start producing. I've attached my settings just to give a summary for those who do not want to read the manual. I've also placed the shortcut in 'Startup' so that it will auto-run whenever windows start, cause it doesn't seems to auto start. Thanks lainx!
